Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcelo Cesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark MacLeod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Cesar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark MacLeod! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cesar throws a hook to the side of MacLeod's head but MacLeod sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Cesar is looking to take this fight into the clinch. MacLeod circles away from the clinch attempt.
MacLeod tries to bum rush Cesar with a series of wild strikes but Cesar uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Cesar swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and MacLeod counters with a single leg into guard. Cesar didn't expect that. MacLeod stands and throws Cesar's legs to the side, diving into side control. MacLeod postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Cesar tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but MacLeod wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. MacLeod in side control, throwing shots but Cesar defends. Cesar tries to improve position but can't. Cesar manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! MacLeod trying to control but Cesar postures up.
Cesar thows a huge punch but MacLeod dodges it nicely.
MacLeod keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. MacLeod moves out of range of the strikes. Cesar moves in looking to clinch but MacLeod pushes him off. MacLeod avoids a punch combination nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. MacLeod drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. MacLeod keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Cesar. Cesar connects with the punch. MacLeod lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. MacLeod throws a sloppy head kick and Cesar moves out of range easily. MacLeod decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. MacLeod content to control rather than advance. MacLeod prevents Cesar from improving his position. MacLeod frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. MacLeod sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Cesar is looking to get to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. MacLeod trying to control but he's not successful this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cesar is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Cesar tries to hold on but MacLeod pushes him away. MacLeod is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Cesar is surviving well by controlling MacLeod's body position as best he can. MacLeod takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Cesar turns into MacLeod and is now in his guard.
Cesar tries to free his leg and advance position but MacLeod is retaining full guard. Cesar wants to control from the top but MacLeod keeps moving. MacLeod wants to sweep but no luck.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cesar throws a big right hand that misses. MacLeod preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Cesar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Cesar wants to control from the top but MacLeod keeps moving. MacLeod trying to keep a closed guard but Cesar is proving a slippery customer.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. A big right from Cesar misses. Cesar misses with a looping right. MacLeod scores a takedown into full mount! MacLeod tries to control but Cesar wriggling away. A nice elbow there by MacLeod. Cesar is looking to improve his position but MacLeod isn't that keen on the idea. MacLeod in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cesar is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
MacLeod controlling from mount. Cesar is looking to improve his position but MacLeod isn't that keen on the idea. MacLeod wants to control the pace but Cesar is squirming around nicely. MacLeod has hold of Cesar's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Cesar manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Cesar is wriggling around trying to escape.

Mark MacLeod dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Cesar rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but MacLeod moves out of range and avoids them all easily. MacLeod tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Mark MacLeod is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cesar throws a shot from downtown. MacLeod moves away and avoids it. MacLeod blocks a jab. Cesar throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Cesar is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by MacLeod. Cesar looks to score with a jab to the body but MacLeod is just out of range. MacLeod lands a two punch combo.
MacLeod lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cesar circles away quickly and effectively. MacLeod displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cesar throws out the jab. A big left from Cesar misses. MacLeod defending well as Cesar loads up on a big left hand. Cesar is looking to clinch. Cesar throws a shot from downtown. MacLeod moves away and avoids it. Cesar is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. A combination from Cesar does no damage. Cesar misses with a hook to the body
and MacLeod counters with a shoot takedown. Cesar fights it but they end up in guard. Cesar is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. MacLeod passes Cesar's left leg - he's now in half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Cesar is looking for a sweep. MacLeod is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
MacLeod's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. MacLeod wants to pass to mount but Cesar is defending the position. Cesar is trying to get back to full guard. Cesar looking for submissions from an awkward position here. MacLeod is pressing down on Cesar's thigh, looking to free his foot. Cesar is holding on for now. MacLeod in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Cesar tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from MacLeod!
