Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mario Ozawa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Spiller! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Anthony Taglia and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ozawa looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Spiller looks to throw the jab but Ozawa is out of range. Spiller scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ozawa doesn't seem bothered though. Ozawa shoots in for a takedown but Spiller shows good takedown defense. Spiller throws a nice looking combination but Ozawa bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ozawa shoots in looking for a takedown. Spiller tries to sprawl out of it but Ozawa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Spiller manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mario Ozawa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Spiller misses with an uppercut. Spiller lands a nice hook to Ozawa's body. Ozawa takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Ozawa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Spiller is fending him off so far but Ozawa persists. Nope, Spiller circles away and we're back to standing. Spiller lands a head shot. Spiller lands a slapping body shot.
Ozawa fails with the takedown. Nice takedown defense from Spiller. No joy for Ozawa on that attempt. Ozawa slips under a jab from Spiller. Spiller lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spiller scores with a nice strike. Spiller lands with an overhand left. Spiller scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Ozawa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Spiller is fending him off so far but Ozawa persists. Nope, Spiller circles away and we're back to standing. David Spiller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ozawa is breathing heavily. Ozawa shoots in looking for a takedown. Spiller tries to sprawl out of it but Ozawa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Spiller manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Ozawa closes the distance and clinches up with Spiller, looking for a takedown. Ozawa pushes Spiller against the cage but Spiller circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Spiller misses with a double jab.
Nice takedown defense from Spiller. No joy for Ozawa on that attempt. Ozawa takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Spiller throws a series of punches but Ozawa avoids them all with ease. Spiller shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Spiller tries to control but Ozawa wriggling away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spiller prevents Ozawa from getting the reversal. Ozawa is working hard here to advance position. Spiller blocks Ozawa's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Spiller is trying to control here but Ozawa has managed to regain half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Spiller throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Spiller scores with a jab to the head.
Ozawa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily so Spiller counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ozawa looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ozawa throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Spiller escapes and throws Ozawa's legs to the side, diving into side control!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ozawa is trying to get back to half guard. Spiller is chipping away with strikes.
Ozawa manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Ozawa is looking for a sweep. Spiller is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Ozawa makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Ozawa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Spiller counters with a lovely straight right hand! Ozawa takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Left hook, right uppercut from Spiller. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ozawa tries for a takedown but Spiller circles away easily and Spiller counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. This has been an exciting period of action! Ozawa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Spiller counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Spiller dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Spiller looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Spiller getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Ozawa wants to clinch but Spiller slips to the side and Spiller counters with a stiff right hand. Ozawa fails with the takedown enabling Spiller to counter with a crisp jab. Ozawa shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Ozawa missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Spiller pushes Ozawa off looking to stand but Ozawa dives back in and keeps control.
Ozawa is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Spiller defends it well. Ozawa wants to control but Spiller is keeping him busy. Ozawa frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spiller prevents Ozawa from taking his back. Ozawa working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Spiller turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Ozawa off and cradles Spiller's limp body as Ozawa celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Mario Ozawa!
