Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jorge VonQulik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Okabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kenji Okabe has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jorge VonQulik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Okabe!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by VonQulik as he connects with a hook.
Okabe stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Okabe wants it to stay on the feet.
VonQulik misses with a takedown attempt - Okabe sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Okabe throws a body punch but VonQulik moves out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Okabe. VonQulik does a little dance to reset his feet.
Jorge VonQulik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
VonQulik tries to clinch up but Okabe circles away and keeps his distance.
VonQulik misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jorge VonQulik. That's going to take a lot out of him.
VonQulik shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Okabe defends it nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from VonQulik.
Okabe just misses with a punch to the body.
VonQulik steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Okabe.

Okabe scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

VonQulik is looking for a sweep.
Okabe working away.
VonQulik tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Okabe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
VonQulik trying to control but Okabe flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Okabe doesn't have the hooks in and VonQulik manages to turn into his guard.
VonQulik stops Okabe from standing up.
VonQulik stopping the sweep attempt from Okabe.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
VonQulik fails with the takedown

and Okabe counters with a single leg into guard. VonQulik didn't expect that.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now VonQulik is on top in guard.

Okabe is pulling down on VonQulik's head. It's preventing any offense from VonQulik, at least for the moment.
Okabe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

VonQulik is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Okabe is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Okabe has escaped and now he's on top!
Okabe slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

VonQulik not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
VonQulik tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Okabe advances to half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
VonQulik tries to roll over but Okabe keeps him under control.

Okabe is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. VonQulik doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Okabe.
Okabe throwing shots but VonQulik is blocking nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Okabe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but VonQulik does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
VonQulik is trying to get back to full guard.
VonQulik won't allow Okabe to pass to mount.
VonQulik throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
VonQulik gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Okabe decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in VonQulik's guard.
Okabe passes VonQulik's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
VonQulik is looking for a sweep. Okabe is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are battling for position here. VonQulik manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenji Okabe dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Okabe moves away from the strike by VonQulik.
Okabe misses the shot to the body.

Okabe gets a takedown into half guard.
VonQulik is doing well to control the position and prevent Okabe from advancing to side control.
VonQulik tries to roll over but Okabe keeps him under control.
Okabe trying to mount his opponent but VonQulik defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Okabe sitting and controlling from the half guard.
VonQulik is looking to improve his position.

VonQulik manages to get to full guard.
VonQulik keeping full guard, as Okabe tries to pass.
Okabe throwing strikes but missing.
Okabe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
VonQulik is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Okabe working some strikes from top position.

VonQulik has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Okabe doesn't defend quickly enough and VonQulik has managed to lock this one up! Can Okabe escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to VonQulik on a fantastic submission victory.
