Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ransom Metz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Simon Jones! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Metz tries to clinch up. Ransom Metz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Metz gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jones to score an easy takedown into full guard. Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Jones wants to control from the top but Metz keeps moving. Metz wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it. Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Metz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Metz keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Metz pushes Jones off and gets back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Metz misses with a takedown attempt and Jones counters with a series of strikes. Metz will be more careful next time no doubt. Jones is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Metz's half guard. Jones looks to land a strike but Metz avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Jones has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Metz is proving hard to escape from. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Metz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jones wants to pass the guard but Metz is keeping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Metz wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment. Metz is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Metz has Jones pressed against the cage, preventing Jones from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Jones misses with a knee to the head. Jones gets underhooks to prevent Metz's takedown attempt.
Metz jumps guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Metz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard. Jones looks gassed! Jones wants to stand and escape but Metz is having none of it. Metz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy. Metz working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Metz passes Jones's left leg - he's now in half guard. Metz maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Jones could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Metz has cracked it and Jones is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Metz!
