Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Spat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexey Shishkin!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Sergei Dronov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spat feints and as Shishkin raises his hands in defense, Spat changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Shishkin is looking for a triangle but Spat pushes his legs off easily.
Spat slips nicely into half guard.
Spat wants to pass the guard but Shishkin is defending well.
Spat tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Shishkin tries to get to full guard but Spat has control of the leg.

Shishkin wants to get back to full guard but Spat has mounted him!

Spat stands up from mount. Strange move.
Shishkin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Spat closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Shishkin is not content to let Spat control the position.
Spat tries to advance to mount but can't.

Spat working away.
Spat connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Shishkin some visible discomfort.
Shishkin stops Spat from passing to mount.

Spat wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shishkin, who protects the arm well.
Spat wants to control but Shishkin is keeping him busy.

Shishkin trying to remain calm as Spat controls from the top position.
Shishkin tries to buck Spat off but Spat is having none of it.
Shishkin is trying to control Spat's posture but Spat avoids it.
Spat content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Shishkin manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Spat won't allow Shishkin to pass to mount.
Spat wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shishkin is trying to control. Spat wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Spat keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Shishkin.

Spat closes the distance and clinches.
Spat tries to pull guard but Shishkin won't allow it.
Spat tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Shishkin just stands there and leans against the cage.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Spat moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Spat tries to clinch there but Shishkin circles away.
Spat misses with an uppercut. Shishkin saw that one coming.
Spat steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Shishkin. That one must have hurt.
Shishkin circles away from the clinch attempt.
A jab from Shishkin finds it's way through Spat's defenses.
Spat shoots in and drives through. Shishkin sprawls well.
Shishkin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Spat sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Shishkin shoots for a double leg takedown but Spat sprawls well. He's pushed Shishkin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Shishkin missing with a left hand there. Spat was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Spat shoots in for a double leg but Shishkin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Shishkin lands with an overhand left.
Shishkin wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Shishkin rushes Spat and presses him up against the cage.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Shishkin goes for a takedown in the clinch but Spat prevents it.
Come on Shishkin - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Shishkin continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.

Shishkin wants the takedown. Spat is fighting it off but Shishkin persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Spat's guard against the cage.
Spat wants to sweep but no luck.

Spat is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Shishkin works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Spat is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Shishkin wants to take a breather but Spat is having none of it.
Shishkin trying to control the pace.
Shishkin's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Spat is not content to let Shishkin control the position.

Shishkin is looking to advance position but Spat won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Alexey Shishkin.

Spat tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Spat. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Spat changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Shishkin fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Spat is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Shishkin has Spat pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Shishkin pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Spat tumbling to the mat - Shishkin dives into Spat's guard.
Spat lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Shishkin!

Alexey Shishkin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Spat moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Spat throws a leg kick but Shishkin sees it coming and checks it nicely.

It looks like Alexey Shishkin has been cut.
Shishkin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shishkin wants it to stay on the feet.
Jack Spat is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Shishkin has a takedown stuffed.
Spat circles away from the clinch attempt.

Shishkin takes the fight into the clinch.

Shishkin turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Shishkin manages to end up in side control.
Shishkin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Spat keeps working.
A lull in the action here as Shishkin stalls from top position.

Shishkin wants to control for a moment but Spat uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Shishkin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Spat does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Spat wants to get back to full guard.
Shishkin works his way into side control.
Shishkin trying to control the position but Spat is working away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Shishkin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Spat knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Spat sneaks back into half guard.
Spat is looking to improve his position.

Shishkin wants to work for an arm triangle but Spat is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Shishkin is looking to stall here but Spat recovers full guard.
Shishkin wants to pass the guard but Spat is keeping the position.

Shishkin is posturing up here but Spat has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Shishkin tries to roll out but it's too tight and Shishkin has to tap! Slick submission there by Spat!
