Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Corpus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ivan Dragunov! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dragunov displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Corpus throws out the jab. Dragunov is looking to clinch but Corpus is avoiding it.
John Corpus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dragunov misses with a jab, cross combination.
Corpus looks to land a combination but Dragunov avoids it well. Corpus throws a right hand that Dragunov ducks under and follows up with a left that Dragunov also avoids with ease. Dragunov tries to clinch up but Corpus circles away and keeps his distance. Corpus throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dragunov counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Dragunov wants to control but Corpus is keeping him busy. Corpus knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dragunov on the ground. Dragunov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Corpus wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round. Corpus is trying is best to control the position here. Well, if Dragunov is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ivan Dragunov was stalling too much, according to the referee. Dragunov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Dragunov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Corpus keeps working. Dragunov scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Dragunov is trying to work for a kimura but Corpus is defending well.
Dragunov decides to stand up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dragunov gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dragunov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Corpus as he jumps to the side. Corpus misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Corpus lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dragunov circles away quickly and effectively. Dragunov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Corpus misses with a double jab.
Dragunov walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Corpus throws a right hand that Dragunov ducks under and follows up with a left that Dragunov also avoids with ease. Dragunov shoots in for a takedown but Corpus shows good takedown defense. John Corpus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ivan Dragunov. Dragunov lands a glancing blow to the side of Corpus's head. Dragunov gets the takedown into side control. Corpus can't do much from the bottom here. Dragunov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here as Dragunov stalls from top position. Corpus is looking for a sweep. Corpus manages to get back to half guard. Dragunov is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Corpus has managed to free his arm - good work. Dragunov is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Corpus defends it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Corpus avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Dragunov. Dragunov sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Corpus defending well though. Corpus looks like he's trying to stand up.
Corpus wants to improve his position but Dragunov is controlling well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Dragunov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Dragunov is pressing down on Corpus's thigh, looking to free his foot. Corpus is holding on for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ivan Dragunov dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Dragunov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Corpus sprawls well. Corpus wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dragunov gets slowly back to his feet. Corpus throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Corpus has closed the distance and engaged Dragunov in a clinch.
Dragunov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Corpus has Dragunov up against the cage in a clinch.
Corpus presses Dragunov against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Dragunov pulls guard effortlessly. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dragunov is on top in guard.
Dragunov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Corpus swivels though and keeps the full guard. Dragunov scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Corpus looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dragunov passes easily into side control. Nice work. Corpus wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Corpus manages to get back to half guard. Corpus on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Corpus tries to get out of the position. Dragunov is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Corpus defends it well. Dragunov missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Dragunov moves nicely into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dragunov in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Corpus is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
