PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bart Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fanis Bartko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bartko has chosen Marpo - Muay Thai as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bart Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Fanis Bartko!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bartko tries to clinch but Harris is having none of it.
Bartko shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Harris sprawls well. Harris wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bartko gets slowly back to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bartko.
Bartko wants to clinch up but Harris keeps it at a distance.
Harris stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Harris lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Bartko backs up against the cage.
Bartko shoots in and drives through. Harris sprawls well.
Bart Harris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fanis Bartko.

Harris gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Harris ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Harris no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Harris is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bartko is controlling him.
Bartko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harris. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Harris pushes Bartko off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Harris clinches.

Bartko pulls Harris into guard.
Harris lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Harris showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Harris has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Harris trying to control the position from guard on top but Bartko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Harris postures up.
Harris won't allow Bartko to sweep him here.
Harris is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Bartko wants to get back to his feet but Harris is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Harris controlling from the top position.
Bartko wants to stand but Harris is controlling the position.
Bartko looks gassed!

Harris chips away with some ground and pound.
Harris working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harris controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Bartko not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Bartko keeping full guard, as Harris tries to pass.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Harris with a nice head shot there.
Harris is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Harris throws a big right hand that misses.
Harris loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Harris has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Harris tries to free his leg and advance position but Bartko is retaining full guard.
Harris missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Bartko is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Harris stands up over Bartko, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Harris throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Harris is looking to clinch.
Bartko misses with a double jab
and Harris counters with a right hand to the body.

Harris clinches.
Harris is trying to drag Bartko to the mat but Bartko just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bart Harris dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Harris moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Harris misses with a wild combination.
Bartko shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Harris cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A chopping leg kick lands by Harris.
Harris misses with a low kick.

Harris takes the fight into the clinch.
Bartko is breathing heavily.

Harris has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bartko uses from the top position.

Harris kicks Bartko off and gets to his feet.
Harris displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

A bone on bone clash there as Bartko blocks the leg kick.

Harris closes the distance and pushes Bartko back into the cage.

Harris escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bartko has his takedown stuffed
and Harris counters with a slapping leg kick.

Harris closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Harris has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bartko uses from the top position.

Harris has his feet on Bartko's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Harris lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Harris moves into the clinch successfully.

Harris manages to break the clinch.
Harris scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Bart Harris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bartko has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
A shot to the liver by Harris. Beautiful body shot.
Bart Harris is winning the standup battle so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Harris fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bartko, pushing him back against the cage.
Harris is pushing Bartko up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Harris gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.

Harris escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Harris closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Harris throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Bartko blocks it with crossed arms.

Harris pulls Bartko into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bartko tries to stand but Harris is controlling from the bottom.

Harris kicks Bartko off and gets to his feet.

Harris clinches with his opponent.
Harris lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Bartko or not.

Harris ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Harris no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Harris scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Harris closes the distance and pushes Bartko back into the cage.

Harris gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Harris is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Harris controls from within his opponent's guard.
Harris postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Harris distracts Bartko with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Harris drops back looking for a leg! Bartko is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bartko manages to kick Harris off! Harris jumps back into Bartko's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bart Harris dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Bartko circles away from the clinch attempt.

Harris instigates a clinch.
Harris misses with a knee to the head.
Bartko blocks the elbow strike.

Bartko drags the fight down to the ground.
Bartko looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bartko has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Harris has passed into side control.

You can see the frustration on Bartko's face as Harris controls the position.
Harris is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bartko can do to turn this around?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bartko is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Bartko takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Harris seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Bartko is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Harris scores with a couple of nice shots.

Harris seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Harris is thwarting Bartko's attempts to control the position.
Harris uses his free foot to push down on Bartko's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bartko.
The referee warns Bartko that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Bartko is looking to get to half guard.
Harris lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Bartko is in a horrible position here. Harris smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.


Bartko is rocked!

Bartko is still in real trouble! Can Harris finish him?
Bartko takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A big strike lands for Harris! That's really hurt Bartko and he's turned his back - Harris keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Harris jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bart Harris!
