Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, R J MacReady!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Still!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Dean Styles and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacReady finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Still connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between MacReady's hands.
Still fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Still misses with a body shot.
MacReady lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Still circles away quickly and effectively.
A swing and a miss from Still.
Nice body punch from Still.
Still punishes MacReady's body with a nice straight punch.
MacReady steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Still.
MacReady takes a jab right on the kisser.
MacReady misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Still keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A chopping leg kick lands by MacReady.
MacReady looks to score with a jab to the body but Still is just out of range.
Still lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
MacReady misses with a double jab

and Still counters with a takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Still tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Still has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Still lands a few punches from side control.

Still is looking to take a break and control but MacReady is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Still is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but MacReady is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Still looks up at the clock and then as MacReady takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Still smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
MacReady on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if MacReady tries to get out of the position.
Still tries to advance to mount but can't.
Still advances to full mount.
MacReady tries to lock up and control but Still gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

MacReady is looking to improve his position but Still isn't that keen on the idea.
Still scoring with strikes but MacReady is staying in there.
Still throwing strikes but MacReady bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.
Still pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. MacReady is keeping the position for now.
Still with a nice head shot there.

Still is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Still trying to control the position from guard on top but MacReady is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Still drops back looking for a leg! MacReady is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and MacReady manages to kick Still off! Still jumps back into MacReady's guard.

Still wants to control from the top but MacReady keeps moving.
Still is pushing down on MacReady's leg trying to pass to half guard. MacReady is fighting to maintain full guard but Still has managed to sneak the leg through.
Still tries to pass to full mount but MacReady defends it.

Still is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and MacReady defends it well.
MacReady on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
MacReady is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Still scores with a couple of nice shots.

MacReady keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Still is looking to advance position but MacReady won't allow it.
MacReady trying to hold on to Still's head to control him but Still postures up.
Still is looking to advance position but MacReady won't allow it.

Still is working for a kimura but MacReady is defending it quite comfortably.
Still tries to pass the half guard into mount. MacReady knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
MacReady is looking for a sweep. Still is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Still dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Still swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Still dips to his left and cracks MacReady with an uppercut!
Still throws a series of punches but MacReady moves out of range.

MacReady tries to sprawl but Still drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Still is pressing down on MacReady's thigh, looking to free his foot. MacReady is holding on for now.
Still missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
MacReady blocking the ground and pound attempt from Still.

Still is working for a submission of some sort.
Still works his way into side control.
Still tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Still wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by MacReady, who protects the arm well.
MacReady tries to improve position but can't.
Still working the ground and pound but MacReady is defending the strikes.
Still in side control, throwing shots but MacReady defends.
Still wants to lay and pray for a moment but MacReady keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Still tries to score with some ground and pound. MacReady controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Still working the ground and pound but MacReady is defending the strikes.
MacReady is looking for a sweep.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
MacReady dodges the ground and pound from Still.
Still in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
MacReady manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Still gets back to full guard.
Still has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Still keeping full guard, as MacReady tries to pass.

Still throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Still is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
MacReady is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Still scores with a couple of nice shots.

Still is working for a kimura but MacReady is defending it quite comfortably.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Still connects with a nice short shot to MacReady's temple.
MacReady missing with punches from the bottom.
Still missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
MacReady won't allow Still to pass to mount.
MacReady is looking for a sweep. Still is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Still is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
MacReady tries to get to full guard but Still has control of the leg.

Still seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. MacReady is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
