The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Vargas. No joy for Evans on that attempt.
Vargas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Evans but Evans pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Evans stuffs the takedown attempt from Vargas. Vargas gets slowly back to his feet.
Evans darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Vargas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Vargas is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Evans pulls his head out easily.
Vargas has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Evans is working away from the top position though.
