PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Colonel Sanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Colonel Sanders!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, William Gordon!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gordon throws a right hand that Sanders ducks under and follows up with a left that Sanders also avoids with ease.
Gordon throws a right and a left that both miss.

Sanders throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gordon tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sanders is in Gordon's guard.
Gordon is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Sanders postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Sanders working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Sanders is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gordon is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gordon has escaped and now he's on top!

Gordon is looking to stand up but Sanders won't let him.

Sanders wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Sanders utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gordon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sanders shoots in for a double leg but Gordon sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gordon throws a right and a left that Sanders avoids nicely.
Sanders shoots in for a takedown but Gordon shows good takedown defense.
Sanders looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Colonel Sanders. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gordon shoots for a takedown but Sanders saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A punch combination from Gordon misses.
Gordon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
William Gordon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sanders has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


Colonel Sanders's cut is getting worse.
A swing and a miss from Gordon.
Gordon throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gordon pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Gordon drops Sanders with a nice combination! Gordon dives into Sanders's guard, looking to finish!


Colonel Sanders's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Sanders is breathing heavily.

Sanders has his feet on Gordon's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Gordon jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Gordon misses with a double jab.
Some wild striking there from Gordon.
Gordon misses with the combination.
Gordon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sanders moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Sanders gets a takedown into half guard.
Gordon blocking the ground and pound attempt from Sanders.

Sanders throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Gordon wants to get back to his feet.
Sanders throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Sanders thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gordon's head.
Sanders working over Gordon with some ground and pound. Gordon looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Gordon is trying to stand up here but Sanders is controlling him well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gordon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sanders manages to avoid it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gordon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sanders was well out of range. Poor timing from Gordon.
A combination from Gordon does no damage.
Gordon shoots for a double leg takedown but Sanders sprawls well. He's pushed Gordon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Gordon dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Colonel Sanders's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


A slow jab from Gordon misses its intended target.
Gordon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gordon wants it to stay on the feet.

and Sanders counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gordon won't be happy with that.
Gordon takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
The strikes coming from Sanders are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Sanders throws an elbow but Gordon slips to the side and avoids it well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gordon can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gordon wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sanders in the domination position with Gordon hanging on.

Sanders misses with the ground and pound.
Gordon wants to get back to his feet.
Sanders lands a nice forearm strike.

Sanders is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gordon has escaped the position, nice work there.
An elbow from Sanders crashes against the mat.
Sanders fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Gordon manages to get back to half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sanders throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Sanders drops an elbow to the side of Gordon's head.
Gordon is looking to escape.
Sanders wants to free his trapped foot but Gordon is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Gordon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sanders. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gordon keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Gordon is doing well to control the position and prevent Sanders from advancing to side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanders trying to mount his opponent but Gordon defends it.
Gordon wants to control but Sanders is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Gordon throws a nice looking combination but Sanders bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Gordon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sanders manages to avoid it.
Sanders has his takedown stuffed
and Gordon counters with a two punch combo.


Jeez, Colonel Sanders's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Colonel Sanders's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). William Gordon!
