Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cole Michaels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Merrick Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kane's choice of entrance music: Blood Sugar - Pendulum. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Merrick Kane! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Michaels throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Kane misses the jab. Kane shoots in and bounces Michaels off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Kane wants to control from the top but Michaels keeps moving. Kane tries to free his leg and advance position but Michaels is retaining full guard. Michaels not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kane loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kane is looking to advance position but Michaels has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Kane regains half guard. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Kane feints and as Michaels raises his hands in defense, Kane changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Kane working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Michaels looking for subs off his back but Kane has passed one foot through into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kane throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Kane not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Kane is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Michaels is just riding it out for now. Kane eventually gives up the hold. Kane prevents Michaels from improving his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Kane trying to control the action but Michaels is working from the bottom. Kane looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Kane wants to take a breather but Michaels is having none of it. Kane performing his best blanket impression for a moment. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Ground and pound from Kane. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Merrick Kane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Michaels's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

He's got his arms around Michaels's waist but Michaels gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kane off to one side. Kane shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kane was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Kane misses with a head shot. Kane trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Kane goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Michaels is on top in guard.

Kane has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

And that's the end of the fight! Merrick Kane comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Kane has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
