PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dustin Hazlett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Neil Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hazlett comes to the cage accompanied by Crank that Travis Barker Remix. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dustin Hazlett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Neil Adams!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Bruno Lombardi and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hazlett.

Hazlett swings around for an armbar but Adams sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hazlett's guard.
Hazlett really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hazlett working for a triangle but Adams defends it easily.

Hazlett is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hazlett is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Adams is looking to stand up but Hazlett won't let him.

Hazlett is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Adams defends well.

Adams thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Adams must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hazlett looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hazlett escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Adams gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hazlett is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Adams is aware though and is defending well.

Hazlett is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Adams defends well.
Hazlett will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Adams got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hazlett has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Adams has managed to get both his arms back between Hazlett's legs - danger averted.

Hazlett manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Adams bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Hazlett darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Hazlett trying to pass the guard but Adams defending well.
Adams has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hazlett is working away from the top position though.

Hazlett is working for a kimura but Adams is defending it quite comfortably.

Hazlett thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Adams's head.

Hazlett wants to work for an arm triangle but Adams is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hazlett wants to advance to full mount but Adams doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Adams wants to sweep but no luck.
Hazlett with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hazlett advances to half guard.

Hazlett is working for a kimura but Adams is defending it quite comfortably.
Hazlett wants to lay and pray for a moment but Adams keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hazlett throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Hazlett is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Adams has managed to free his arm - good work.
Hazlett is nestled in close to Adams, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Hazlett not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Hazlett trying to control from half guard but Adams is working away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Adams is trying to get back to full guard.
Hazlett moves nicely into side control.
Adams taking a bit of punishment here - Hazlett scoring with strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hazlett landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Hazlett misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Hazlett gets caught flat footed, as Adams shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hazlett has his foot on Adams's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Adams works his way back into a safe position though.

Adams postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hazlett is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Adams, into his guard.

Hazlett passes Adams's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Adams has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hazlett is working away from the top position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hazlett stalling away here and it's allowed Adams to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Hazlett content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hazlett tries to free his leg and advance position but Adams is retaining full guard.
Adams keeping moving, preventing Hazlett from controlling successfully.
Dustin Hazlett overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Adams looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hazlett is one step ahead there.
Hazlett slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Adams utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Hazlett postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Adams keeping moving, preventing Hazlett from controlling successfully.
Hazlett looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Hazlett throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Adams works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dustin Hazlett showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hazlett has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
