The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Morris lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Da at a distance.
Da shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Morris as he jumps to the side. Da misses with a takedown attempt - Morris sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Morris takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Morris stuffs the takedown. Sammy Morris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Atilla Da. Morris checks a leg kick. Morris fails to land with a series of punches.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Atilla Da wasn't active enough on the ground. Morris is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Da's half guard. Da holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Da regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Morris. Da trying to control the position.

Morris tries to get to full guard but Da has control of the leg. Da lands with a punch from half guard. Da sitting and controlling from the half guard. Da is looking to pass Morris's guard but actually Morris recovers to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Morris is fighting to break Da's control of his arms but Da is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Morris won't allow Da to get back to his feet. Da keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Morris prevents Da from standing back up.

Sammy Morris overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Da is positioning himself well to prevent Morris advancing to mount. Da gets full guard. Morris trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Da wants to stand and escape but Morris is having none of it. Da lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Morris!

Morris avoids a strike by Da and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Da's guard! Fantastic escape!
Da pulls Morris in close to prevent any damage. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Da wants to sweep but no luck. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Morris fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Da manages to avoid it. Morris closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Morris lands in his opponent's guard. Da working a defensive guard here.

Atilla Da has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Da scores a takedown into full mount! Morris has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Da is landing with some decent strikes but Morris is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Da landing strikes from the mount. Da lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Da throws a sloppy strike and Morris uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Morris has ended up in Da's guard.

Da avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Morris's guard. Da trying to control but Morris is working from the bottom. Da is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Da throwing strikes but missing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Da works a leg free and moves into half guard. Da performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Da throws a strike but Morris avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Morris manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Atilla Da has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Sammy Morris is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Da can't escape the position.
