Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Devin Emelianenko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alan Gamayot! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jorge Garcia and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gamayot throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. The fight stays on the outside here - Gamayot looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Gamayot shoots in for a takedown but Emelianenko shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Gamayot tries to close the distance and clinch but Emelianenko swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Emelianenko changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gamayot looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Emelianenko wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gamayot, who protects the arm well. Emelianenko wants to control for a moment but Gamayot uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Emelianenko trying to control the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Emelianenko trying to pass the guard but Gamayot defending well. Emelianenko works his way into side control. Emelianenko working away. Gamayot is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Emelianenko is staying active. Emelianenko slows the pace down. Gamayot struggling a bit here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Gamayot tries to improve position but can't. Gamayot is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Emelianenko controls the position from side control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Gamayot with a lazy takedown attempt and Emelianenko counters with a nice double leg into guard. Gamayot is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Gamayot escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Emelianenko gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Gamayot looks gassed! Gamayot is looking for a triangle here but Emelianenko uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Gamayot is letting Emelianenko control him for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gamayot has escaped the position, nice work there. Emelianenko is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gamayot is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Emelianenko remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gamayot fails with the takedown and Emelianenko counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Emelianenko fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Gamayot is trying to break the clinch but Emelianenko has him pressed against the cage. Emelianenko is trying to trip Gamayot. He has hold of a leg but Gamayot is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Emelianenko persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Emelianenko trying to control the position from guard on top but Gamayot is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Emelianenko trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Emelianenko missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Emelianenko passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Gamayot wants to control but Emelianenko is keeping busy.

Gamayot is looking to control Emelianenko's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gamayot avoid being mounted? It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Still in half guard, Emelianenko seems content to control.
Devin Emelianenko has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Emelianenko shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Emelianenko was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Emelianenko tries to control but Gamayot wriggling away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gamayot is desperately trying to improve his position but Emelianenko has a good base and remains in mount. Gamayot is breathing heavily. Emelianenko scoring with strikes but Gamayot is staying in there. Gamayot is looking to improve his position but Emelianenko isn't that keen on the idea. Gamayot tries to hold on but Emelianenko pushes him away. Emelianenko controlling from the full mount. Gamayot wants to control but Emelianenko is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gamayot reaches up to try and control the position but Emelianenko seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Gamayot rolls and tries to escape and now Emelianenko has his back!
Gamayot is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Emelianenko.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Emelianenko has managed to slip his arm under Gamayot's chin. This could be all over... yep, Gamayot is tapping out! Submission win for Emelianenko.
