Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Markkina pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Van Damme drives through with a takedown into guard.
Van Damme wants to pass the guard but Markkina is keeping the position.
Markkina has momentary wrist control but Van Damme slips an elbow through the middle.
Van Damme stopping the sweep attempt from Markkina.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Van Damme decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Markkina, up you get!
Markkina scores with a crisp jab that stopped Van Damme in his tracks.
Van Damme drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Markkina takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Van Damme wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Markkina, who protects the arm well.
Markkina is trying to improve his position.
Van Damme gets to mount! Markkina was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Van Damme is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Markkina has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Van Damme prevents Markkina from getting the reversal.
Markkina wants to control but Van Damme is having none of it.
Van Damme will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Van Damme tries to control but Markkina wriggling away.
Markkina is trying desperately to improve position.

Markkina is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Markkina is squirming around, avoiding Van Damme's attempts to control the action.
Markkina looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Van Damme lands a shot to the body.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Van Damme has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Markkina is defending well but eventually Van Damme manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Markkina has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
