Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexandr Sobolev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sobolev comes to the cage accompanied by Война. Alexandr Sobolev has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Emelianenko shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sobolev manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Sobolev is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Emelianenko is aware though and is defending well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Emelianenko thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Emelianenko tries to stand but Sobolev is controlling from the bottom.
Sobolev will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sobolev not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Sobolev is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Emelianenko is aware though and is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Sobolev's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Emelianenko misses with the ground and pound.
Sobolev is trying to get back to half guard.
Emelianenko creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Sobolev sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sobolev struggling a bit here.
Emelianenko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sobolev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

It looks like Alexandr Sobolev has been cut.
Emelianenko tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Emelianenko is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sobolev has escaped the position, nice work there.

Fedor Emelianenko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Emelianenko pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Emelianenko lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Sobolev with a poor takedown

and Emelianenko counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Emelianenko got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sobolev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Emelianenko has managed to get both his arms back between Sobolev's legs - danger averted.

Sobolev is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Emelianenko is looking to work some ground and pound but Sobolev has wrist control.
Fedor Emelianenko is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Sobolev utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Emelianenko's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Emelianenko is looking to stand up but Sobolev won't let him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Sobolev had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Emelianenko defends it easily.

Fedor Emelianenko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Emelianenko has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
