PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gordan Crocop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franklin Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gordan Crocop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Franklin Ross!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ross gets caught flat footed, as Crocop shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Ross tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Crocop looking to pass the guard.
Crocop with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ross wants to sweep here but Crocop controlling him for the moment.
Crocop trying to control but Ross is working from the bottom.
Ross is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Ross is thwarting Crocop's attempts to control the position.

Crocop is controlling Ross's trapped leg to prevent Ross from advancing to side control.
Ross is looking to advance position but Crocop won't allow it.
Ross passes to full mount!
Ross throws a strike there. Crocop manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
Crocop wants to improve his position but Ross is controlling well.
Crocop makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Crocop.

Crocop striking off his back but it's not causing Ross any problems.
Ross pushes down on Crocop's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Ross wants to lay and pray for a moment but Crocop keeps working.

Ross is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Ross is looking to take a break and control but Crocop is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Crocop is doing well to control the position and prevent Ross from advancing to side control.

Ross slips nicely into half guard.
Ross throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

A close round but Franklin Ross will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Crocop counters with a shoot takedown. Ross fights it but they end up in guard.

Crocop has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Ross off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Crocop is refusing to be controlled, as Ross sits in half guard.

Gordan Crocop dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Crocop shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Crocop was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ross wants to hold on but Crocop pushes him away.
Crocop lands with some strikes.
Ross can't escape the position.
Crocop in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Ross takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Gordan Crocop overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Crocop tries to control but Ross wriggling away.
Ross is bucking up trying to escape but Crocop cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Crocop won't let Ross get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Crocop postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ross looks a forlorn figure.
Crocop content just to control the position here.

Ross tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Crocop can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ross is looking to escape.

Crocop is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Crocop instigates a clinch.

The referee calls for Ross to work.
Ross tries to circle away but Crocop has him pinned against the cage.

Crocop jumps into guard, dragging Ross to the mat.
Ross prevents Crocop from getting back to his feet.
Crocop manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Crocop with the ground and pound from mount.
Ross really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Crocop jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ross is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ross and Crocop has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Crocop decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ross to his feet.
Crocop with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Crocop tries to clinch up but Ross circles away and keeps his distance.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gordan Crocop showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Crocop has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
