PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between pete peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and whats that aboot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, pete peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 19 - 0, fighting out of London, whats that aboot!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
aboot changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. peterson tries to avoid it but aboot manages to keep hold of a leg and drag peterson to the ground. peterson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

peterson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

peterson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
aboot sneaks back into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
aboot is looking for a sweep. peterson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
peterson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
peterson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
peterson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but aboot does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

aboot wants to control but peterson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
peterson prevents aboot from improving his position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
peterson performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up. pete peterson wasn't doing enough on the ground.
aboot misses with a head kick.
aboot gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and peterson counters by moving into the clinch.
peterson goes for a takedown attempt but aboot pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

peterson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

aboot takes a knee right on the jaw!
peterson jumps guard but aboot stands there with peterson around his waist. peterson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

aboot breaks from the clinch.
peterson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with aboot but aboot pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for pete peterson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
aboot doesn't manage to clinch there - peterson circles away.
aboot looks to land a combination but peterson avoids it well.
aboot gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and peterson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in aboot's guard.

peterson gets to his feet. aboot looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
aboot looks gassed!

peterson manages to pull guard.
aboot postures up.
peterson has his hands on aboot's head, controlling the position.
aboot wanted to stand there but peterson had control of the position.
peterson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

aboot drops back looking for a leg! peterson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and peterson manages to kick aboot off! aboot jumps back into peterson's guard.

peterson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes aboot off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

peterson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells peterson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
peterson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

peterson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
peterson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

aboot throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
peterson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
aboot shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. peterson defends it nicely.
Crunch! aboot slams his shin into peterson's torso.

peterson wants to clinch up but aboot keeps it at a distance.
peterson shoots in but aboot avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
aboot misses with a body kick.
peterson throws a body kick the misses

and aboot counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
peterson throws a head punch that misses.

aboot escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
peterson throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
aboot shoots in looking for a takedown but peterson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing aboot's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
pete peterson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
aboot fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and peterson has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

and aboot counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by aboot.
peterson wants a takedown.
aboot fails to pull guard.

A short right hand to the side of the head by aboot.
aboot lands a hook that snaps the head of peterson backwards.
peterson stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
peterson tries to pull guard but aboot won't allow it.
peterson stalling in the clinch.
aboot is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
peterson has aboot pressed against the cage.
peterson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. aboot avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
A nice left hand lands by aboot.

aboot gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

aboot decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
peterson tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
aboot fails with a takedown attempt.

aboot moves into the clinch successfully.
peterson stalling.
aboot landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

peterson breaks the clinch.

peterson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. aboot did well to prevent peterson getting side control.

peterson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

aboot is staying active underneath peterson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
peterson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
peterson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
peterson looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

whats that aboot showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



peterson feints and as aboot raises his hands in defense, peterson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
peterson trying to control but aboot is working from the bottom.
pete peterson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
aboot is controlling peterson's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
peterson wants to control from the top but aboot keeps moving.

peterson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on aboot, up you get!
aboot takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
peterson misses with a takedown

and aboot counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

aboot not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

aboot lands an elbow that stopped peterson in his tracks for a moment.
aboot managing to block the knees to the body from peterson.
aboot lands a good knee to the midsection. peterson won't want to take too many of those.
peterson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. aboot smiles and moves away.
aboot fails with an attempt to clinch.

peterson keeps the fight on the outside.

peterson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
aboot is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
peterson won't allow aboot to sweep him here.

peterson stands and steps away. aboot gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

peterson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. aboot gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to pete peterson.
I think peterson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
