The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coleman shoots and misses
and Maier counters with a stiff right hand.

Maier drives through with a takedown into guard.

Coleman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maier doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maier manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Maier got a little sloppy there for a moment and Coleman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Maier has managed to get both his arms back between Coleman's legs - danger averted.

Coleman manages to work his way to half guard, despite Maier's best efforts.

Maier seems to be looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maier wants to pass the guard but Coleman is defending well.

Maier is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Maier has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Maier goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Coleman turns into him and now he's in Maier's guard.
Coleman wants to control from the top but Maier keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Maier is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Coleman has his hands clasped together but Maier extends an breaks Coleman's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Maier.
