Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 1 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex Brannigan! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Potemkin Buster! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brannigan pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Brannigan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Buster moves out of range of the strikes. Brannigan tries to clinch but Buster moves out of range. Buster moves out of range of the body kick from Brannigan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brannigan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Brannigan throws a wild body kick that Buster sees coming a mile off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buster swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Buster fails with a takedown attempt. Brannigan throws a solid leg kick but Buster takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Brannigan. Buster dives in and grabs Brannigan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Brannigan pushes down on Buster's head and hops out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Brannigan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Brannigan wants it to stay on the feet. Alex Brannigan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Potemkin Buster. Brannigan fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Buster is out of range. Buster circles away from the clinch attempt.

Brannigan throws a lazy right hand but Buster sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Buster jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Brannigan pushes Buster off and scrambles back to his feet.

Brannigan takes a swing at Buster's ribcage but misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Buster throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Buster looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Brannigan is fending him off so far but Buster persists. Nope, Brannigan circles away and we're back to standing. Buster scores with a takedown into Brannigan's guard. Brannigan working a defensive guard here.
Buster is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Brannigan being controlled here, momentarily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buster wants to control from the top but Brannigan keeps moving. Brannigan looking to control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Buster trying to control the position from guard on top but Brannigan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Buster preventing the sweep. Buster trying to control but Brannigan is working from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Potemkin Buster was stalling too much, according to the referee. Buster changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brannigan tries to avoid it but Buster manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brannigan to the ground. Brannigan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Buster on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Buster looks for a takedown but Brannigan sprawls well. Alex Brannigan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Potemkin Buster. Brannigan tried to score with a low kick but Buster checks it. Brannigan misses with a leg kick.

Buster throws an overhand right that lands on Brannigan's shoulder, as Brannigan tries to avoid the shot. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Buster shoots in looking for a takedown. Brannigan tries to sprawl out of it but Buster keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brannigan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Brannigan feints and then cracks Buster's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Buster down.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Buster thows a body shot but no joy. A slapping leg kick lands for Brannigan.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Buster blocks a leg kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Brannigan clearly takes that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
A telegraphed right hand from Brannigan misses the target. Buster shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Brannigan's guard. Buster trying to control but Brannigan is working from the bottom. Buster stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brannigan swivels though and keeps the full guard. Buster wants to control from the top but Brannigan keeps moving. Brannigan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Buster controls the pace. Brannigan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Buster looking to pass the guard.

We're back to striking at a distance. Brannigan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Buster swats him away and circles back towards the center. Potemkin Buster has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight! Alex Brannigan showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Brannigan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
