Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tommy Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Kavanagh and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sanchez enables Johns to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sanchez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johns trying to control the position from guard on top but Sanchez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Johns passes Sanchez's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Sanchez is looking to improve his position.
Sanchez is trying to stand up here but Johns is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johns works his foot free and advances to mount.
Johns tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Sanchez is desperately trying to improve his position but Johns has a good base and remains in mount.
Johns controlling the position easily from mount.
Johns lands a nice shot to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johns landing punches.
Johns has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Johns working away from the top, dropping strikes.

Johns stands up from mount. Strange move.
Johns lands a jab to Sanchez's midsection.
Tommy Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johns works Sanchez's body with a nice hook.
Sanchez looks gassed!
Sanchez takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Johns closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Johns lands in his opponent's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sanchez has momentary wrist control but Johns slips an elbow through the middle.
Johns stands and throws Sanchez's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Sanchez is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Johns asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Johns has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Sanchez!

Johns is working for a guillotine from mount but Sanchez frees his head quite easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sanchez defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Johns.
Johns with the ground and pound from mount.
Johns fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Johns has isolated one of Sanchez's arms. Sanchez looking to fight him off but Johns twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
