The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Johnson has his foot on Hernandez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hernandez works his way back into a safe position though.

Hernandez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Well, if Hernandez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Gilbert Hernandez was stalling too much, according to the referee.

and Hernandez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Johnson won't be happy with that.

Hernandez goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Johnson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hernandez but great work by Johnson.

Johnson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hernandez is trying to get back to half guard.

Johnson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hernandez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Hernandez wants to control but Johnson postures up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Johnson swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Hernandez is now in Johnson's guard. A big mistake from Johnson there, giving up the dominant position!
Johnson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hernandez's guard.

Gilbert Hernandez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hernandez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hernandez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hernandez wants to control for a moment but Johnson uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Hernandez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Johnson is just riding it out for now. Hernandez eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well Hernandez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
