Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Abott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonas Loteyro!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Abott jumps guard but Loteyro stands there with Abott around his waist. Abott gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Loteyro scores with a knee to the head.


It looks like James Abott has been cut.
Abott gets underhooks to prevent Loteyro's takedown attempt.
Loteyro stalling.

Loteyro breaks from the clinch.
Abott with a poor takedown
and Abott takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Abott gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Loteyro holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Abott. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Abott tries to pull guard but Loteyro won't allow it.
Abott fails to pull guard.

Loteyro manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Abott thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Loteyro is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Abott drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Abott jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Loteyro tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Abott drops back looking for a leg! Loteyro is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Loteyro manages to kick Abott off! Abott jumps back into Loteyro's guard.

Abott is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Loteyro is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Loteyro has escaped and now he's on top!
Abott lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Loteyro!
Abott is trying to take his opponent's back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Abott swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). James Abott!
