PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Dingo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dingo comes to the cage accompanied by Carl Orff - O Fortuna . Allen has chosen The Realest Sport as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Dingo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Allen!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dingo misses with a straight left.

Allen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dingo gets back to full guard.
Dingo is trying to control the position but Allen postures up.
Allen showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Dingo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Matt Dingo just wasn't active enough.

Dingo swings for the body but Allen moves out of range.

Good standup being displayed there by Dingo as he connects with a hook.
Dingo dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Dingo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Allen moves away.
Dingo changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Dingo.
Dingo has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Dingo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Poor strikes thrown by Dingo there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Allen wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Dingo.
Dingo wants to control the action but instead Allen gets a body lock and reverses into Dingo's guard! Nice work!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Allen wants to get up but he can't break Dingo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Allen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dingo to the mat! Dingo manages to get full guard.
Dingo tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Dingo throws his legs up looking for a submission but Allen uses it to pass to side control.
You can see the frustration on Dingo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Dingo trying to control but Allen flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

We're going to have a standup here because Matt Dingo wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Allen fails with a takedown attempt.
Dingo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Allen swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Dingo getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Jason Allen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Allen needs to keep his hands up - Dingo had a free shot at his head there.
Dingo lands an overhand right.

and Allen counters with a shoot takedown. Dingo fights it but they end up in guard.
Dingo has control of Allen's left arm, preventing Allen from doing any damage.
Dingo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Allen wants to control from the top but Dingo keeps moving.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Dingo misses with a jab, cross combination.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Allen is defended easily by Dingo.
Dingo throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Allen stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Dingo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Allen was well out of range. Poor timing from Dingo.

Dingo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Allen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dingo tries to score with a low kick but Allen moves his leg out of the way.
A solid body kick from Dingo.
Allen defending well as Dingo loads up on a big left hand.
Dingo digs a good hook to Allen's body.
Matt Dingo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Allen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Dingo is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Allen stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Dingo misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Allen.

Jason Allen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Dingo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Allen counters with a single leg into guard. Dingo didn't expect that.
Dingo wants to sweep here but Allen controlling him for the moment.
Dingo is pulling down on Allen's head. It's preventing any offense from Allen, at least for the moment.

Dingo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Dingo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Allen!

Dingo is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Allen has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Allen is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dingo looking to control but Allen is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Allen is trying to stand.
Dingo postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Allen looks a forlorn figure.

Dingo has hold of Allen's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Allen manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Allen is in a horrible position here. Dingo smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

You get the feeling that Allen really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Allen really wants to buck Dingo off and get back to his feet.
Dingo misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Matt Dingo showed his dominance in that final round.
