Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Symphony X! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Puffer! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Puffer tries a head kick but it misses.
X shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Puffer pinned against the cage. Puffer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Puffer throws a sloppy head kick and X moves out of range easily. X blocks a head kick by Puffer.
X fails with a takedown attempt. X fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Puffer avoids it really well and circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Symphony X. That's going to take a lot out of him. Puffer misses with a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A good leg kick by Puffer. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Puffer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. X looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Puffer has picked X up and slammed him! X can't keep hold of the triangle and Puffer manages to pass to side control! X manages to work his way to half guard, despite Puffer's best efforts. Puffer seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Puffer tries to stand and escape but X is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. X tries to get to full guard but Puffer has control of the leg. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. X holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. X looking for submissions from an awkward position here. X is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Puffer pulls his head out easily. X looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Puffer performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. X actively working from the bottom here. Puffer stalling. X has his hands clasped together around Puffer's back. He's all about the action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Excellent takedown into side control there by X. X tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no X has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! X thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. X is trying to control. Puffer wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. X is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Puffer defends it well. X trying to pass the guard but Puffer defending well. Puffer wants to get back to full guard.

X is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Puffer is just riding it out for now. X eventually gives up the hold. X is pressing down on Puffer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Puffer is holding on for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Puffer is staying active underneath X, who seems content to just control the action from this position. X is looking for a kimura here.

Symphony X dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!
Puffer throws a leg kick that is checked and X counters with a nice double leg into side control. Puffer won't be happy with that. Puffer is trying to get back to half guard. X tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. X goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Puffer rolls with the submission and now he's on top in X's guard! Nice work there by Puffer! Puffer forces his way into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. X is looking for a sweep. Puffer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Puffer tries to stand and escape but X is controlling the position. X trying to hold on to Puffer's head to control him but Puffer postures up.

Puffer stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Puffer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Puffer pulls out of a head kick attempt.

X moves out of range of the leg kick from Puffer. Puffer looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. X shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Puffer pinned against the cage. Puffer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. X blocks a low kick nicely. X blocks a head kick by Puffer.

That's three minutes gone in the round. A head kick misses from Puffer. Puffer defends well against a solid takedown attempt from X. Puffer thows a body kick. X tries to catch it but that hurt him. Nice body kick there by Puffer. X shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. X is looking for a kimura but Puffer is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for X to get the leverage. Puffer trying to hold on to X's head to control him but X postures up.
