Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nelson Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Partridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Diaz tries to bum rush Partridge with a series of wild strikes but Partridge uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Diaz swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diaz looks to land a combination but Partridge avoids it well. Diaz throws a right and a left that both miss.

Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Partridge as he jumps to the side. Partridge ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Diaz moves away. Partridge clinches with his opponent.

Partridge is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Diaz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Partridge's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Partridge's back! Partridge fending off the submission attempt from Diaz. Diaz is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Partridge defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Partridge thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Partridge throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Diaz tries to buck Partridge off but Partridge is having none of it. Diaz tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Partridge presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Diaz is desperately trying to improve his position but Partridge has a good base and remains in mount. Diaz is working hard here to advance position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Partridge manages to capitalize on a mistake by Diaz to take his back! Diaz turns into Partridge and is now in his guard.
Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Partridge swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Diaz!
