Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yakamura Chin Hong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes into the arena with Firework blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yakamura Chin Hong! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chin Hong has his takedown stuffed and Smith counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Chin Hong has his takedown stuffed and Chin Hong takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Smith swinging wildly here.
Chin Hong gets caught flat footed, as Smith shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Smith is stalling in the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith pushing down on Chin Hong's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Smith content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Smith has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Chin Hong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The ref stands the fighters back up. John Smith wasn't doing enough on the ground. Smith lands a jab. Smith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Chin Hong looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chin Hong takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Smith controlling the position from side mount. Smith decides to stand up, so the ref orders Chin Hong to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chin Hong shoots and misses and Smith counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chin Hong won't be happy with that. John Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yakamura Chin Hong. Smith slows the pace down. Chin Hong looks gassed!
That's four minutes gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Smith seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Chin Hong for as long as he can get away with.
The ref stands the fighters back up. John Smith wasn't doing enough on the ground. Chin Hong tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Smith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chin Hong's guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Smith sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Chin Hong's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Smith trying to control the pace. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Smith dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Chin Hong lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Smith works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Chin Hong throws a lazy head kick and Smith counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ground and pound from Smith. Smith slows the pace down in half guard. Chin Hong is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. John Smith wasn't doing enough on the ground. Chin Hong misses with a takedown attempt and Smith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chin Hong's guard. Smith seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Smith passes Chin Hong's left leg - he's now in half guard. Smith is taking a breather. Chin Hong says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Smith uses his free foot to push down on Chin Hong's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Chin Hong. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Smith looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Smith dominating with strikes here. Smith controlling the position easily from mount. Smith punishing his opponent with strikes. Smith controlling his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Chin Hong can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Smith sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Smith cracks Chin Hong with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Smith dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Smith gets in close and instigates a clinch. Smith gets control of Chin Hong's arms and successfully pulls guard. Smith will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Smith pushes Chin Hong off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Smith lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Smith scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Smith working the head and body with strikes. Smith works his foot free and advances to mount. Smith looking to finish Chin Hong with some ground and pound. This is bad for Chin Hong! Chin Hong takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith controlling from mount. BOOM! Smith connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Smith lands a nice shot to the head. Chin Hong has left one of his arms exposed and Smith doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Chin Hong screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
