Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andy Artukovic! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Crispin Mathias! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mathias lands a body shot.
No joy there for Mathias, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mathias lands a jab to the nose. Mathias throws a series of punches but Artukovic moves out of range. The fighters circle momentarily. Mathias darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Artukovic throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mathias tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Artukovic is in Mathias's guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Artukovic postures up.
Mathias keeping moving, preventing Artukovic from controlling successfully. Artukovic passes into half guard. Artukovic trying to control from half guard but Mathias is working away. Mathias is concentrating on defense, preventing Artukovic from advancing position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Artukovic moves nicely into side control. Artukovic is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mathias knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Artukovic looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. That's three minutes gone in the round. The ground and pound from Artukovic seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Artukovic throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Artukovic goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Mathias has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Artukovic but great work by Mathias. You can see the frustration on Artukovic's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mathias wants to control but Artukovic is keeping him busy. Artukovic tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mathias wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Artukovic gets back to half guard. Mathias really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Artukovic. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Artukovic looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Artukovic is pressing down on Mathias's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mathias wants to control from the top but Artukovic keeps moving. Artukovic is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Mathias got a little sloppy there for a moment and Artukovic has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mathias has managed to get both his arms back between Artukovic's legs - danger averted. Mathias sitting in guard, not really doing much. Mathias wants to pass the guard but Artukovic is keeping the position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Artukovic is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mathias is aware though and is defending well. Mathias is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Mathias must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Artukovic is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

A big right from Mathias misses. Artukovic shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Mathias counters with a left to the body. Crispin Mathias is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mathias throws a big shot that misses. Mathias swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Artukovic uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mathias.
Mathias takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Artukovic misses with a takedown and Artukovic takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Mathias lands with a nice body punch. Mathias throws a nice inside leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mathias getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Mathias ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Sloppy strikes from Mathias. Those never looked like landing. Mathias paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Mathias throws a body punch but Artukovic moves out of range. Mathias throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Artukovic on the side of the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Artukovic shoots and misses and Mathias counters with a left to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Artukovic. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mathias feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Artukovic sprawling to the canvas! Artukovic rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Mathias finish him?!
Artukovic is rocked! Mathias swings for the body but Artukovic moves out of range.
Mathias batters Artukovic with a massive right followed by a huge left! Artukovic is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Mathias lands a final crushing right hand to drop Artukovic to the mat with a gruesome thud! Mathias is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Crispin Mathias!
