Reimer comes to the cage accompanied by BLUNT- The Iron Maiden. Hawkins has chosen Fly Like an Eagle - Steve Miller Band as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carmine Hawkins!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawkins throws an off balance right hand
and Reimer counters with a straight right hand.
Reimer misses with a leg kick.
Reimer throws a solid leg kick but Hawkins takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Reimer.
Hawkins stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hawkins wants it to stay on the feet.
Hawkins wants to clinch.
Hawkins blocks a head kick by Reimer.
Hawkins throws the left hand but Reimer avoids the punch easily.
Caleb Reimer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hawkins moves out of range of the body kick from Reimer.

Reimer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hawkins keeps working.

Reimer lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Reimer thows a huge punch but Hawkins dodges it nicely.
Reimer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Reimer is trying to control the action in half guard but Hawkins is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Hawkins is in trouble now - Reimer has advanced to mount!

Hawkins is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hawkins can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hawkins is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Hawkins in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Reimer postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hawkins looks a forlorn figure.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hawkins keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Reimer jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hawkins manages to avoid the submission attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Reimer has knee on belly and moves into mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Caleb Reimer dominated that round.

Reimer uses his free foot to push down on Hawkins's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hawkins.
