Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lance Jackson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, William Bonney! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bonney shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Jackson counters with a straight right hand. Bonney misses with a takedown and Jackson counters with a straight right hand. Jackson feints and as Bonney raises his hands in defense, Jackson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Bonney is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Jackson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Jackson throws a big right hand that misses. Bonney wants to sweep but no luck. Jackson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bonney has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jackson has managed to get both his arms back between Bonney's legs - danger averted. Jackson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Bonney throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Bonney is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jackson defends well. Jackson wants to pass the guard but Bonney is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bonney works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Jackson thows a big elbow that misses. Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bonney swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jackson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bonney has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jackson has managed to get both his arms back between Bonney's legs - danger averted. Bonney wants to control but Jackson passes easily into half guard.
Bonney wants to get back to full guard. Jackson scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Jackson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Jackson controlling the position easily from mount. Jackson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bonney is looking to escape. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Jackson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bonney has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Jackson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Jackson with shots to the head and body - Bonney looks very uncomfortable down there. Jackson scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Bonney is in all sorts of trouble here.
Jackson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bonney is looking to escape. Jackson prevents Bonney from getting the reversal. Bonney is squirming around, avoiding Jackson's attempts to control the action. Jackson with shots to the head and body - Bonney looks very uncomfortable down there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. BOOM! Jackson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Jackson in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Bonney is rocked! Jackson looking to control but Bonney is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Bonney is still in real trouble! Can Jackson finish him? Bonney working to try and regain half guard.
Bonney looks gassed! Jackson landing strikes from the mount and Bonney is in trouble! Jackson raining down hammerfists from mount. Bonney keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jackson lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Bonney hang on? Bonney in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Oooooh, big shot lands for Jackson! Bonney is hurt baaadly! Jackson is firing away with more strikes - Bonney is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
