Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hendrik Felchner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Richard Head!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Felchner misses with a knee to the head.
Head misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Felchner.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Felchner obliges.
Felchner lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
It looks like Richard Head has been cut.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Nice body punch from Head - that landed with a thud.
Head blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Head creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Felchner's defenses.
Felchner tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Head pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Head on the wrong end of a nice jab.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Head moves into the clinch.
Felchner with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Head is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Felchner gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Knees to the body from Felchner.
Head looks gassed!
Head is trying to maintain a safe position but Felchner gets an underhook and turns Head into the cage.
Felchner lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Felchner swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Head turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Head trying to control the position but Felchner is working away.
Head has an Americana. Felchner didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Head is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Head hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Richard Head!
