Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jesus Cavalera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Marx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cavalera comes to the cage accompanied by Carnivore - Predator. Jesus Cavalera has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jesus Cavalera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Marx!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cavalera throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Marx counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Marx looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Cavalera throws a series of punches but Marx moves out of range.
A low kick from Cavalera is predictable there
and Marx makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Cavalera misses with a body shot.
Cavalera moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Marx.
Cavalera cracks Marx with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Cavalera misses with a double jab
and Marx cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Marx fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Marx lands with a kick to the temple. Cavalera shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Cavalera throws a right hand that misses
and Marx counters with a right hand to the body.
Cavalera jabs Marx right on the nose. Marx blinks but takes it well.
Marx doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Cavalera counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Marx is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Cavalera throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Marx.
A solid leg kick lands there for Cavalera.
Cavalera stuffs the takedown attempt from Marx. Marx gets slowly back to his feet.
Cavalera throws a leg kick
and Marx connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cavalera throws a head kick but Marx moves out of range.

Marx closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

and Marx counters with a single leg into guard. Cavalera didn't expect that.

Cavalera will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mark Marx hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Marx chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cavalera can pounce on him.

and Marx counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Cavalera misses with a leg kick
and Marx counters with an inside leg kick.
Cavalera on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Cavalera looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Marx takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
A low kick from Cavalera misses
and Marx counters with a nice body kick.

Marx bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Marx wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cavalera keeps working.
Cavalera on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Marx controls the position.
Cavalera tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Marx wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Cavalera is staying active underneath Marx, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Cavalera is trying to escape back to his feet but Marx uses the scramble to pass into side control.

and Marx holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Marx scores with a nice hook to the head.
Cavalera is looking to break free of the clinch but Marx has double underhooks.

Cavalera throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Marx blocks it with crossed arms.

Marx's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Marx throws a push kick but Cavalera slaps the foot to one side.

and Marx counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Marx.
Marx controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Cavalera tries to land a sweep but no joy.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Cavalera is looking for a sweep.
Marx in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Cavalera takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Cavalera wants to control but Marx postures up.
Cavalera wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marx wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cavalera keeps working.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cavalera is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Marx is controlling him well.
Marx postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Marx happy to just control the position for now.
Cavalera tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Marx wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Mark Marx showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Marx uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cavalera.
Marx shoots in looking for a takedown. Cavalera tries to sprawl out of it but Marx keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cavalera manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Marx is looking to land body kicks.

and Marx counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Cavalera working for submissions but it's allowed Marx to get to half guard.

Marx is trying to control the action in half guard but Cavalera is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Marx wants to free his trapped foot but Cavalera is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Marx looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cavalera with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Cavalera kicks Marx off and gets back to his feet.

Cavalera tries to sprawl but Marx drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Marx is nestled in close to Cavalera, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Marx is stalling here. Cavalera is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Marx seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Cavalera has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Cavalera wants to control but Marx is keeping him busy.
Marx pushes Cavalera away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Cavalera gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Marx is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Jesus Cavalera has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Cavalera is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Marx doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cavalera.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Marx is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Marx is looking to escape.

Cavalera wants to work for an arm triangle but Marx is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Cavalera throws a strike but Marx avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Cavalera postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Cavalera has gone for a leg lock! Marx slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cavalera's guard.
Marx trying to control the position from guard on top but Cavalera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mark Marx comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Marx has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
