PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Robert Sarian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joesph Benavidez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Joesph Benavidez was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robert Sarian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joesph Benavidez!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sarian closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Benavidez to the mat! Benavidez manages to get full guard.

Benavidez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Benavidez working for a triangle but Sarian defends it easily.

Benavidez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sarian doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sarian manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sarian got a little sloppy there for a moment and Benavidez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sarian has managed to get both his arms back between Benavidez's legs - danger averted.
Sarian really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Benavidez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sarian. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Sarian throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Benavidez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sarian is in Benavidez's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Sarian is posturing up here but Benavidez has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Sarian tries to roll out but it's too tight and Sarian has to tap! Slick submission there by Benavidez!
