Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frosty McPenos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pono Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McPenos comes to the cage accompanied by "Don't Call Me White" by Nofx. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Frosty McPenos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Pono Reyes!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McPenos gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Reyes counters with a stiff right hand.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Reyes. McPenos shrugs it off though.
McPenos has his takedown stuffed

and Reyes counters with a single leg into guard. McPenos didn't expect that.

Reyes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
McPenos not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Reyes content to stall in guard here.
Reyes preventing the sweep.
McPenos looking to control.
Reyes controls from within his opponent's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Reyes moves into the clinch successfully.

McPenos is looking to control Reyes's arms but Reyes gets an underhook and turns him. Now McPenos has his back to the cage.

Reyes has clasped his hands together around McPenos's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
McPenos tries to improve position but can't.

Reyes stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Reyes throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. McPenos tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Reyes is in McPenos's guard.
Reyes trying to control the position from guard on top but McPenos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McPenos wants to sweep but no luck.
McPenos trying to keep a closed guard but Reyes is proving a slippery customer.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
McPenos is really struggling to control Reyes but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McPenos wriggles free and stands up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Reyes enables McPenos to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Reyes manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Reyes looking for a sweep. Not yet Reyes, not yet.
McPenos won't allow Reyes to get back to his feet.
McPenos stopping the sweep attempt from Reyes.
McPenos wants to control from the top but Reyes keeps moving.

Reyes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
McPenos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Reyes is looking to stand up but McPenos isn't so interested in that idea.
Reyes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McPenos's guard.
Reyes tries to stand but McPenos is controlling from the bottom.

Reyes stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Reyes closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. McPenos quickly recovers to half guard.
McPenos is looking to control Reyes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McPenos avoid being mounted?
Reyes works his foot free and advances to mount.
Reyes trying to control but McPenos is having none of it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McPenos sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pono Reyes dominated that round.
That's time! McPenos's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

McPenos is working an open guard so Reyes takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Reyes swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
McPenos fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Reyes fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

McPenos tries for a takedown but Reyes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
McPenos shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Reyes but Reyes pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frosty McPenos. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Reyes moves into the clinch.
McPenos swings wildly with an uppercut but Reyes uses good head movement to avoid it.
McPenos is trying to drag Reyes to the mat but Reyes just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Reyes.
McPenos looking for a takedown.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Reyes works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Reyes stands up from McPenos's guard - Reyes perhaps looking for a knockout.
Reyes goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Reyes feints and as McPenos raises his hands in defense, Reyes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Reyes stands up and waves to McPenos to follow him.
Pono Reyes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Reyes decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McPenos is trying to stand.
Reyes is pressing down on McPenos's thigh, looking to free his foot. McPenos is holding on for now.
McPenos tries to roll over but Reyes keeps him under control.

Reyes is trying to control. McPenos wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Reyes wants to pass the guard but McPenos is defending well.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Reyes content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Pono Reyes wasn't active enough on the ground.
McPenos throws a leg kick but Reyes sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Reyes scores a takedown into full mount!
Reyes controlling the position easily from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reyes takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Will Reyes go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Pono Reyes has got the better of the ground game so far.
Reyes controlling well, preventing McPenos from escaping the position.

Reyes is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Pono Reyes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Reyes throws a leg kick that is checked

and McPenos counters by moving into the clinch.

Reyes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Reyes misses with a looping left.
Reyes misses with a few strikes there.
McPenos throws a nice outside leg kick.
No joy there for Reyes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Reyes looks to land a combination but McPenos avoids it well.
Pono Reyes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McPenos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Reyes as he jumps to the side.

Reyes moves into the clinch.

Reyes drags the fight down to the ground.
McPenos looking to sit in guard and control but Reyes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
McPenos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
McPenos is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Reyes trying to control the position from guard on top but McPenos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Reyes not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Pono Reyes hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Reyes has McPenos up against the cage in a clinch.
Reyes looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Reyes is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
McPenos has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Reyes avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Reyes thows a huge punch but McPenos dodges it nicely.
Reyes wants to take a breather but McPenos is having none of it.
McPenos trying to control from the bottom.
Reyes is keen to just control but McPenos is a slippery customer.
Pono Reyes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Pono Reyes hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Reyes has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed McPenos clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Reyes's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
McPenos manages to reverse the position and now he's in Reyes's guard. Nice work there by McPenos.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Reyes is on top in guard.
Frosty McPenos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Reyes stands up from McPenos's guard - Reyes perhaps looking for a knockout.
McPenos shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Reyes defends it nicely.

Reyes darts in and clinches McPenos up against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Pono Reyes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Reyes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
