The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sokolski gets caught flat footed, as Higgins shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Higgins sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sokolski's guard.

Higgins is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sokolski is just riding it out for now. Higgins eventually gives up the hold.
Higgins slips a nice elbow through Sokolski's hands, connecting with Sokolski's forehead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sokolski is defending against the submission attempts here by Higgins.

Higgins seems to be working for a kimura but Sokolski defends the submission attempt.

Sokolski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Higgins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Higgins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sokolski keeps working.

Higgins in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Sokolski tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Higgins!
