PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Floyd Fury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Davis might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Deftones - Beware. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mickey Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Floyd Fury!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Fury.


It looks like Floyd Fury has been cut.
Davis swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Davis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Davis has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Davis there as he acknowledges the shot.
Davis checks the leg kick.
Davis tries to clinch up but Fury circles away and keeps his distance.
Fury thuds his right hand into Davis's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Davis clinches up with Fury and pushes him back against the cage.
Davis blocks a body shot from Fury.
Davis lands a body punch in the clinch.

Davis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Davis avoids the body shot from Fury.
Fury punishes Davis's body with a nice straight punch.

Davis closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Fury to the mat! Fury manages to get full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fury trying to keep a closed guard but Davis is proving a slippery customer.
Davis trying to control the position from guard on top but Fury is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Fury is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Fury has his foot on Davis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Davis works his way back into a safe position though.
Fury lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Davis!
Davis is wriggling around trying to escape.

Davis is covering up but some of the strikes from Fury are getting through and doing damage.
Davis looking very determined here, making life difficult for Fury.
Fury has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Davis breaks Fury's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Davis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Fury has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Davis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Fury doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fury working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Davis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Davis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fury looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Davis wants to control from the top but Fury keeps moving.
Fury can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Davis controls the pace.

Davis is pushing down on Fury's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fury is fighting to maintain full guard but Davis has managed to sneak the leg through.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Davis wants to control but Fury is keeping him busy.
Fury tries to roll over but Davis keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


No joy there for Davis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Fury is looking to land body kicks.
Davis displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Fury throws out the jab.
Fury misses with a left hand
and Fury takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Davis misses with a series of wild punches.

Fury swings for the body but Davis moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fury lands a slapping body shot.

and Davis counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Davis.
Davis lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Davis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Davis looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Fury!

Davis sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Davis trying to control but Fury is having none of it.
Davis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Fury tries to lock up and control but Davis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

We're going to have a standup here because Mickey Davis wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Davis throws a chopping leg kick but Fury manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Fury misses with a body shot
and Davis counters with a right hand to the body.

Davis drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fury is trying to control the position but Davis postures up.

Fury looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Davis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Davis trying to control the position from guard on top but Fury is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Davis not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Davis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fury has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Davis has managed to get both his arms back between Fury's legs - danger averted.

Fury jabs Davis to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Fury feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Davis's calf.
Davis misses with a hook
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

and Davis counters with a takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Davis looks to throw the jab but Fury is out of range.

Davis closes the distance and clinches.
Davis lands a right hand.
Fury tries to land knees in the clinch but Davis avoids the damage to the body.

Davis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Davis lands a slapping body shot.
Davis tries to clinch up but Fury circles away and keeps his distance.
Fury avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A solid leg kick lands there for Fury.
Fury throws a sloppy body shot
and Davis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Fury is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Davis rather than just go for the knockout.
Fury throws a predictable looking body shot
and Davis counters with a right hand to the body.
Fury throws an overhand right that lands on Davis's shoulder, as Davis tries to avoid the shot.
Fury throws a push kick but Davis slaps the foot to one side.
Floyd Fury is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Fury lands the left hand.
Mickey Davis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No luck for Davis with that takedown attempt.
Fury throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Fury cracks Davis with a right hand to the side of the head.
Davis tries to clinch up but Fury circles away and keeps his distance.
Davis staying out of range there.
Fury ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Fury checks a leg kick.
Fury looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Davis tries to bum rush Fury with a series of wild strikes but Fury uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Davis fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Davis is looking to score with low kicks.
Davis misses with a jab, cross combination.
Davis will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Davis. Fury does a little dance to reset his feet.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Davis lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Fury has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Fury and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Fury tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Davis was well out of range. Poor timing from Fury.
Davis throws a right hand that Fury ducks under and follows up with a left that Fury also avoids with ease.
Fury jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Davis is looking to land body kicks.
Fury scores with a body shot.
Fury falls off balance throwing a combination

and Davis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Davis.
Mickey Davis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fury is on top in guard.
Fury throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Davis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davis looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Fury trying to control but Davis is working from the bottom.
Davis has his hands on Fury's head, controlling the position.

Fury wants to pass the guard but Davis is keeping the position.
Davis looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Davis's jab looks to have found its range, popping Fury under the eye.

Mickey Davis showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Davis has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
