Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tommy Gunn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunn looks for a takedown but Johnson sprawls well.
Gunn tries to clinch there but Johnson circles away.
Johnson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Johnson looks to land a combination but Gunn avoids it well.
Gunn closes the distance but Johnson moves to the side

Johnson is pressed up against the cage. Gunn has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Johnson down to the mat. Johnson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Michael Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Gunn eats them both and turns towards Johnson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Johnson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Johnson lands a nice hook to Gunn's body. Gunn takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Johnson has Gunn up against the cage in a clinch.
Gunn jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Johnson walks away with a smile on his face. Gunn gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

A left and a right from Johnson both land. Nice combination.

Johnson lands an elbow that stopped Gunn in his tracks for a moment.
Johnson is pressed up against the cage. Gunn has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Johnson down to the mat. Johnson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Gunn gets caught flat footed, as Johnson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Johnson is looking to stand up but Gunn won't let him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Johnson stands up and waves to Gunn to follow him.
Gunn looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Johnson is looking to slow Gunn down with leg kicks.

Gunn walks forward, straight into a front kick from Johnson.
Gunn tries to close the distance and clinch but Johnson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Johnson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Johnson throws a right hand that Gunn ducks under and follows up with a left that Gunn also avoids with ease.
Johnson stalks Gunn and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Gunn's face. Gunn staggers backwards, shaken.

Johnson clinches up with Gunn and pushes him back against the cage.

Gunn looking for a takedown.
Gunn is trying to drag Johnson to the mat but Johnson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Gunn has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Johnson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Johnson makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Gunn drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Johnson gets the underhooks and prevents it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Johnson lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Oh Gunn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Michael Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Johnson thows a body kick. Gunn tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Johnson clinches up with Gunn and pushes him back against the cage.
Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Johnson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Gunn tries to clinch up but Johnson circles away and keeps his distance.

Gunn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johnson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Johnson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Johnson wants to stand but Gunn has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Gunn is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Johnson is aware though and is defending well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gunn had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Johnson defends it easily.
Johnson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gunn seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gunn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Michael Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
