The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Sosuke Kotani and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carwin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Carwin displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Otsuka throws out the jab.
Otsuka throws a right hand that Carwin ducks under and follows up with a left that Carwin also avoids with ease.
Carwin shoots and misses
and Otsuka counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Otsuka working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Otsuka scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Otsuka has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Alexander Otsuka has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Carwin fails with the takedown
and Otsuka counters with a huge left! Carwin is in big trouble! He's backing up but Otsuka isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Carwin from any more damage. A dominating finish by Otsuka!
