Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Curtis Payne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Dylan!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jorge Garcia and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payne has his takedown stuffed
letting Dylan counter with a right hand.
Dylan wants to clinch

and Payne counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dylan won't be happy with that.
Payne wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dylan keeps working.
Dylan is looking to regain half guard here but Payne keeps moving and retains side control.
Dylan is not content to let Payne control the position.
Dylan trying his best to control but Payne has mounted him.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Payne goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Dylan turns into him and now he's in Payne's guard.
Dylan trying to control the position from guard on top but Payne is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dylan distracts Payne with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Payne is on top in guard.
Payne trying to control but Dylan is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Payne drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Payne jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Dylan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Payne. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dylan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Payne controls the pace.
Payne trying to control but Dylan is working from the bottom.
Payne sitting in guard here, content to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Dylan holds on and takes a little breather.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Curtis Payne has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Dylan wants to clinch but Payne slips to the side
and Payne counters with a left to the body.

Dylan gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Dylan pushes off an throws an elbow but Payne leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Payne goes for a takedown attempt but Dylan pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Dylan tries to clinch up

and Payne counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Payne won't allow Dylan to sweep him here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dylan can do anything to dispel that myth.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Payne accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Payne wants to control from the top but Dylan keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Payne working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Dylan wants to stand up but Payne is controlling him.
Payne tries to free his leg and advance position but Dylan is retaining full guard.
Payne showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Curtis Payne dominated that round.

and Payne counters with a left to the body.
Dylan tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Payne counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Payne forces his way into half guard.
Payne is keen to just control but Dylan is a slippery customer.
Payne trying to mount his opponent but Dylan defends it.
Payne frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Payne tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Payne sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Payne working for a submission but Dylan is keeping him at bay.
Dylan has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Payne's lack of action.
Curtis Payne overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Payne has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Payne sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Payne wants to control the pace but Dylan is squirming around nicely.
Dylan is looking to get to half guard.
Payne takes Dylan's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Dylan is in trouble.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Payne has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Dylan is in real trouble here. Payne gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Dylan is tapping out! Payne wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Curtis Payne!
