PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jahangir Hooshmand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Koufax Pierce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koufax Pierce told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are James Glass, William Gold and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierce tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A punch combination from Pierce misses.
A jab from Pierce misses.
Pierce waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hooshmand.
Pierce scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
It looks like Jahangir Hooshmand has been cut.
Pierce throws an overhand right that lands on Hooshmand's shoulder, as Hooshmand tries to avoid the shot.
Pierce misses with a series of wild punches.
Pierce slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Hooshmand shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pierce manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hooshmand controls from within his opponent's guard.
Hooshmand drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pierce looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pierce looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pierce!

Hooshmand regains half guard.
Hooshmand manages to get to full guard.
Hooshmand looking for a sweep. Not yet Hooshmand, not yet.
Hooshmand has a closed guard, preventing Pierce from standing up.
Pierce stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Hooshmand throws up his legs and catches Pierce in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Pierce tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Hooshmand! That came out of nowhere!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Jahangir Hooshmand!
