PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tim Chesser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Otto von Goldstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Otto von Goldstein told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tim Chesser!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Otto von Goldstein!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chesser rushes von Goldstein and presses him up against the cage.
von Goldstein gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Chesser.
von Goldstein is pressed up against the cage. Chesser has hold of a leg and is looking to drag von Goldstein down to the mat. von Goldstein avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

von Goldstein is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Chesser's half guard.
von Goldstein thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Chesser's head.

von Goldstein seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chesser does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

von Goldstein is looking to take a break and control but Chesser is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

von Goldstein looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Chesser with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Chesser got a little sloppy there for a moment and von Goldstein has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chesser has managed to get both his arms back between von Goldstein's legs - danger averted.

Otto von Goldstein showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Otto von Goldstein hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Chesser looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for von Goldstein!
von Goldstein holds on for dear life, controlling Chesser's posture momentarily.

Chesser goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now von Goldstein is on top in guard.
