9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fuego Salsa! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Viktor Lagutenko and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mansfield looks to clinch and Salsa counters with a lovely straight right hand! Mansfield wants to clinch but Salsa slips to the side and Salsa cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Salsa feints and as Mansfield raises his hands in defense, Salsa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Mansfield keeping full guard, as Salsa tries to pass. Mansfield seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Salsa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mansfield is keeping the position for now. Salsa is looking to work some ground and pound but Mansfield has wrist control. Salsa passes into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Salsa wants to take a breather but Mansfield is having none of it. Mansfield is looking to control Salsa's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mansfield avoid being mounted? The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Salsa passes the guard and advances to mount! Salsa moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mansfield has worked his arm free - good work by Mansfield!

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Mansfield tries to control but Salsa manages to take his back. Salsa is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Salsa has the hooks in. Mansfield is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Salsa controls the action. Mansfield is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mansfield trying to control the hands but Salsa won't let him. Salsa is looking to control Mansfield but Mansfield is wriggling around and keeping busy. Mansfield fending off the submission attempt from Salsa. Salsa wants to control but Mansfield is keeping busy. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Salsa is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Mansfield taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Salsa.
