Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tom Sawyer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pepper Jackson! The judges for this bout are , and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sawyer has closed the distance and engaged Jackson in a clinch.
Jackson tries to pull guard but Sawyer won't allow it.
Sawyer digs a right hand underneath Jackson's ribcage. Jackson let out a lung full of air as it connected. Sawyer landing knees to the body.
A left hand lands to the body for Sawyer.
Jackson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sawyer smiles and moves away.
A jab-cross combination lands for Sawyer and sends Jackson crashing to the mat! Sawyer follows him down to the mat - Jackson regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
It looks like Pepper Jackson has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jackson is refusing to be controlled, as Sawyer sits in half guard. Sawyer is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Jackson reverses the position - he's now on top in Sawyer's guard. Jackson is looking to work some ground and pound but Sawyer has wrist control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sawyer has Jackson pulled in close to control his posture. Sawyer controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself. Jacksonis looking to pass into half guard but Sawyer pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Sawyer is in guard. Sawyer trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom. Sawyer lands a couple of digs. Jackson keeping full guard, as Sawyer tries to pass. Sawyer postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sawyer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jackson pulls Sawyer in close to prevent any damage. Jackson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sawyer is one step ahead there. Sawyer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Jackson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Pepper Jackson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Jackson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Tom Sawyer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pepper Jackson. Sawyer's jab looks to have found its range, popping Jackson under the eye. A good leg kick by Sawyer. Jackson looks gassed! Jackson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Sawyer can pounce on him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
That has opened up Pepper Jackson's cut even more. Sawyer circles away from the clinch attempt and Sawyer counters with a straight right hand. Sawyer lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Jackson falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
