Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Venom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renato Cardoso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Venom comes to the cage accompanied by Orbital Smasher. Cardoso is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Samba de Janeiro. Charlie Venom has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Venom wants to land a leg kick but Cardoso is out of range.
Venom fails to land with a series of punches.
Cardoso on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Cardoso shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Venom but Venom pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Venom shoots in for a takedown but Cardoso shows good takedown defense.

Venom has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Cardoso looking for a guillotine here but Venom defends easily.
Venom knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cardoso on the ground.

Cardoso has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Venom can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Venom will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Cardoso lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Venom!

Cardoso looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Cardoso unloads with some shots from mount but Venom bucks and avoids them well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

You get the feeling that Venom really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Cardoso lands a big shot there that rocks Venom but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Cardoso avoids the attempt from Venom to control.
Venom is looking to get to half guard.
Cardoso manages to capitalize on a mistake by Venom to take his back!

Cardoso is trying to stick to Venom's back but Venom is turning into Cardoso. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Cardoso's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Venom.
Venom is breathing heavily.
Cardoso bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Venom's guard.
Cardoso is pushing down on Venom's leg trying to pass to half guard. Venom is fighting to maintain full guard but Cardoso has managed to sneak the leg through.
Cardoso is thwarting Venom's attempts to control the position.
Venom is looking to improve his position.
Cardoso performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Venom is looking to control Cardoso's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Venom avoid being mounted?

Cardoso throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Cardoso frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Cardoso looking for a guillotine from mount but Venom is having none of it.
Venom is squirming around, avoiding Cardoso's attempts to control the action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Cardoso counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Cardoso digs a right hand into Venom's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Venom's gas tank.
Cardoso's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Cardoso scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Cardoso is pressed up against the cage. Venom has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cardoso down to the mat. Cardoso avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Venom blocks a head kick by Cardoso.
Cardoso fails with the takedown
and Venom counters with a left and a right that stings Cardoso.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cardoso tries to clinch but Venom moves out of range.
Venom throws a series of strikes that have Cardoso backpedaling.

Venom misses with a takedown
and Cardoso counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Charlie Venom. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Venom has given up his back here.

Cardoso wants to control but Venom is keeping busy.
Venom trying to control the hands but Cardoso breaks the grip.
Cardoso misses with a punch to the head.
Cardoso working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Venom is doing well to defend. Cardoso seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Venom is forced to tap and this one is over!
