The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rasputin takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Rasputin misses with a wild combination.
Rasputin darts in trying to clinch

and Mesnar counters with a single leg into guard. Rasputin didn't expect that.
Mesnar landing some decent shots from guard.

Mesnar stands and steps away. Rasputin gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Mesnar is trying to break the clinch but Rasputin is controlling him.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Rasputin wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mesnar has him pressed against the cage.
Rasputin scores with a nice hook to the head.
Rasputin keeps control of Mesnar as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Mesnar works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Mesnar throws an elbow that misses.
Rasputin misses with a hook from the clinch.

Mesnar manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Mesnar's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Mesnar throws a nice looking combination but Rasputin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rasputin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Rasputin throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Rasputin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rasputin cracks Mesnar with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Mesnar looks to score with a jab to the body but Rasputin is just out of range.
Rock Mesnar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rasputin throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Rasputin misses with a takedown

and Mesnar counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rasputin is trying to get back to his feet.

Rasputin is rocked!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mesnar scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Rasputin is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Mesnar can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
