The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rogers tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Smith connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Smith decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Smith trying to mount his opponent but Rogers defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rogers wants to get back to his feet.
Smith thows a huge punch but Rogers dodges it nicely.
Smith is trying to control. Rogers wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Smith stops Rogers from getting back to his feet.
Smith is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Smith wants to control but Rogers is keeping him busy.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Smith uses his free foot to push down on Rogers's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rogers.
Rogers avoids a series of strikes thrown by Smith.

Rogers wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Smith fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Rogers is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Smith is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Rogers can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Rogers bucks Smith off and manages to get back to his feet!

Steve Rogers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith throws a lazy right hand but Rogers sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

and Rogers takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

so Smith counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rogers swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rogers wants to get back to his feet but Smith is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Rogers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Smith advances to half guard.
Smith frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Smith connects with a bit shot that sees Rogers covering up! More strikes from Smith and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Smith is our winner by TKO!
