Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryosuke Takahashi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Allan Bautista! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Takahashi tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bautista swats him away and circles back towards the center. Bautista misses with a lunging right hand
and Takahashi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Takahashi with a lazy takedown attempt and Bautista counters with a two punch combo. Allan Bautista seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Takahashi fails with the takedown and Bautista counters with a three punch combo that has Takahashi backing up. Takahashi nods at Bautista to acknowledge the strikes. Takahashi shoots and misses and Bautista counters with a good, hard body kick but Takahashi shrugs it off. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryosuke Takahashi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Takahashi drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Takahashi is breathing heavily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Takahashi taking a break here but Bautista is having none of it and regains half guard. Takahashi prevents Bautista from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bautista really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Takahashi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bautista can do anything to dispel that myth. Takahashi is looking for a kimura here.
Takahashi wants to control but Bautista is keeping him busy. Bautista is in trouble now - Takahashi has advanced to mount! Bautista stops Takahashi from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bautista is squirming around, avoiding Takahashi's attempts to control the action. Bautista squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Takahashi is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Bautista to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Bautista shrugs it off. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Takahashi tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Bautista has given up his back. Will we see Takahashi going for some submissions?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bautista trying to get back to his feet but Takahashi is in full control for now. Takahashi has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Bautista! Can he survive? No! He's out! Takahashi gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
