Shotgun is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Light Heavy Weighters. Hugh G Rection has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Madden Shotgun!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shotgun shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Shotgun connects with a good right hand that stumbles Rection. Rection circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Shotgun darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rection blocking the ground and pound attempt from Shotgun.
Shotgun wants to free his trapped foot but Rection is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Rection regains full guard. Nicely done.
Shotgun tries to free his leg and advance position but Rection is retaining full guard.
Shotgun throws and elbow that misses. Rection uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Shotgun's guard. Nice move by Rection!
Shotgun keeping moving, preventing Rection from controlling successfully.
Rection throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Rection stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shotgun swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rection forces his way into half guard.
Shotgun really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rection. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Rection throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Rection has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Shotgun keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ground and pound from Rection.
Rection is keen to just control but Shotgun is a slippery customer.
Shotgun has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rection is working away from the top position though.
Shotgun regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Rection.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Shotgun preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Rection postures up in Shotgun's guard and throws a big left but Shotgun blocks it.
Shotgun looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rection is one step ahead there.
Rection trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Rection wants to control from the top but Shotgun keeps moving.
Rection in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Shotgun avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rection throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shotgun works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shotgun can do anything to dispel that myth.
Shotgun is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rection is pushing down on Shotgun's leg trying to pass to half guard. Shotgun is fighting to maintain full guard but Rection has managed to sneak the leg through.
Shotgun wants to control but Rection is keeping busy.
Shotgun is staying active underneath Rection, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Shotgun is trying to stand up here but Rection is controlling him well.

Rection is looking to take a break and control but Shotgun is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rection has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Rection misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Rection trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Rection has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Shotgun's face.

Rection throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Shotgun has his hands clasped together but Rection breaks the hold and Shotgun is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Rection!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hugh G Rection!
