PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Greg Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Silent Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silent Bob will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Greg Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Silent Bob!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bob with a lazy takedown attempt

and Jackson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bob's guard.
Jackson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bob works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Bob has his foot on Jackson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jackson works his way back into a safe position though.
Jackson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bob escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jackson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Jackson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Bob working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Jackson has passed into half guard!

Jackson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Jackson is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Bob is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jackson pulls his head out easily.
Bob looks gassed!
Jackson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Bob actively working from the bottom here.
Jackson is controlling the pace.
Jackson uses his free foot to push down on Bob's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bob.

Jackson manages to capitalize on a mistake by Bob to take his back!

Jackson has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Jackson just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Will Jackson go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Jackson is riding his opponent, not letting Bob buck him off.
Bob is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Jackson off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Bob is trying to break free.

Bob is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Jackson controlling the position well here. Bob rolled but Jackson kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

We're going to have a standup here because Greg Jackson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Bob fails with the takedown

and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Bob is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jackson pulls his head out easily.

Jackson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bob looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Jackson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jackson closes the distance and clinches.
Bob throws a knee to the head but misses.
Jackson is trying to push Bob away but Bob has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Bob looking for a takedown.
Greg Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Silent Bob.
Jackson has Bob pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bob manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Jackson pulls guard effortlessly.

Bob drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jackson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bob has Jackson in his guard.
Jackson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Greg Jackson dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Jackson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bob has managed to free his arm - good work.
Jackson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Jackson wants to take a breather but Bob is having none of it.

Jackson gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Jackson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Bob is breathing heavily.
Jackson throws an elbow but Bob slips to the side and avoids it well.

Jackson has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Bob!
Bob is desperately trying to improve his position but Jackson has a good base and remains in mount.
Jackson landing punches.
Bob is squirming around, avoiding Jackson's attempts to control the action.
Jackson moves to the back position.
Bob tries to roll but Jackson sticks to his back.
Bob is trapped and Jackson is scoring with shots to the head and body.

Jackson has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Jackson biding his time, looking for the opening.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bob tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Bob tries to improve his position but instead Jackson has taken his back!
Jackson is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Bob staying busy and making it hard for Jackson to control.
Jackson lands a shot to the head.
You can see the frustration on Bob's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Bob is keeping busy.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Jackson is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Bob defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Bob is really stuck here.
Jackson tries to keep control of the position but Bob is staying busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
I really don't envy Bob right now.
Can Bob hold on?! Jackson is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Bob shoots and misses

and Jackson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Jackson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Jackson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jackson's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Jackson wants to stand but Bob has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bob takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Still in half guard, Jackson seems content to control.

Jackson escapes and gets back to his feet.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Bob is retaining full guard.

Jackson stands up and waves to Bob to follow him.

and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bob won't be happy with that.

Jackson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Bob is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Jackson yanks on the arm and Bob is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Jackson.
