PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wand Farias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Langdon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Farias kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bleed it Out. Daniel Langdon is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wand Farias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Langdon!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Farias doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Langdon counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Farias looking to hit a scissor sweep but Langdon is one step ahead there.
Farias doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Farias trying to strike off his back.
Farias has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Langdon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Farias looking to hit a scissor sweep but Langdon is one step ahead there.

Langdon drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Langdon jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Farias manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Farias jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Langdon manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Langdon is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Farias's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Langdon is looking for a triangle but Farias pushes his legs off easily.
Farias tries to free his leg and advance position but Langdon is retaining full guard.

Langdon is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Langdon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Langdon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Farias. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Farias stands and throws Langdon's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Langdon pushes Farias away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Farias gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Farias wants to lay and pray for a moment but Langdon keeps working.

and Langdon decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Farias's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Farias drops his hands momentarily and Langdon takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Langdon takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Langdon is looking to take a break and control but Farias is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Daniel Langdon wasn't active enough on the ground.

Daniel Langdon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Langdon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
